“It was just something to do… for.. for someone else”.
These are the words of local artist and muralist Tatiana Hantig as she describes her experience designing and painting a mural for the CARE Complex project. The CARE Complex project is a 501c3 Non-Profit that is dedicated to ending homelessness in Las Vegas. She created a paint by numbers mural at their location and invited artists and non-artists alike to donate their time, regardless of skill level, to help finish the mural. Although she was nervous about how many people would attend, she said the turnout was incredible. You may have seen some of her other work around town as well. As a part of the county’s Zap Program Tatiana has painted 14 electrical boxes throughout the city including 5 at Desert Breeze Park alone. After speaking at a local elementary school for “Career Day” the kids told her they recognized her paintings and even asked her for her autograph. The majority of her murals are inspired from her memories and experiences and portrayed through abstract art as she recalls them.
